Refractory Selection Of The Electric Melting Furnace For High Silica Glass Marbles

High silica glass marble is a type of Na-B-Si glass. It is used to draw high silica glass fiber. High silica glass fiber is a high temperature inorganic fiber, with a high softening point close to 1700 ℃. It can be used as spacecraft refractory materials, ablative materials, high temperature refractory materials and high temperature insulation materials.

High silica glass is a kind of glass containing over 95% SiO2. It has many similar properties to quartz glass and is a good alternative to quartz glass. However, it is more complex to manufacture than normal glass and is generally made of glass of sodium silicate binary system and sodium borosilicate ternary system. 

 

The electric melting furnace of the high silica glass marbles usually adopts white bubble stone, quartz brick, zircon brick and fused cast AZS block. The price of quartz brick is higher. ZrO2 of zircon brick and AZS block can dissolve in the glass liquid and can not be removed. White bubble block works better in the furnace, because the main component of the white bubble stone is SiO2, which is one of the main components of the high silica glass. However, the white bubble stone has a high coefficient of expansion, when preheating the furnace, some cracks may occur.
