The premature failure of rotary kiln refractories happens repeatedly, especially refractories used in the precalciner kiln door cover. Since it is connected with the the tertiary air pipeline, a huge of areas of the cover should be covered with refractories.

The following should be paid attention to:

1) The refractories for the rotary kiln door cover should have good wear resistance. Refractories containing more than 50% Al2O3 can be used in the lower part of the cover and refractories containing 60%-65% or 80%-85% Al2O3 can be used in the upper part.

2) Chrome steel anchors with high refractoriness and proper welding ends are used to anchor refractory bricks. There should be at least 6 anchors per square meter. As long as conditions permit, the back wall should be arc.

3) Expansion joints should be set on all corners and all wall segments with a legnth of more than 2m. This aspect must be paid particular attention to to ensure proper anchoring at expansion joints. And it must be filled with refractory insulation fibers.
